Who are we?

The SCSL is a co-ed softball league for gays and lesbians, with teams consisting of both men and women. The SCSL is a member of the North American Gay Amateur Athletic Alliance - NAGAAA - which sponsors the annual Gay Softball World Series (GSWS) each year.  Teams from member cities throughout the United States and Canada participate in this event, which provides a showcase for gay and lesbian softball talent.  The GSWS is held in a different NAGAAA member city each year. 

What do we do?

The SCSL plays softball, of course.  But we are more than just softball!  We strive to:

  • provide opportunities to make friends outside of the bar and club scenes

  • promote improved health through the exercise benefits of playing softball

  • offer social events beyond the softball fields

  • promote high standards of conduct for fair play and sportsmanship

  • provide competition in an environment of friendly rivalries

  • provide opportunities to travel to other cities to join in athletic competition

  • feel pride in personal growth and accomplishment and team successes
     

When do we play?

The SCSL begins the season with the annual "spring training."  For 2008, Spring Training Dates are TBA.  This is a time for those who are interested in playing with the league to come out, meet the members of the league, and play a little ball.  Current league members are also encouraged to come to the spring training to welcome the new members and start to loosen those softball playing muscles!  The season runs from late April through August, culminating with the championship playoffs during August.  Games are played on Saturday and Sunday afternoons, and also on Wednesday nights. Team practice times are determined by individual teams.

Where do we play?

Fields and days are yet to be determined for the 2008 season.

How do I get more information about the SCSL?

You can print a 2008 SCSL Application and mail it to the address at the top of the form.  

If you want to talk to a person about the league, you can fill out a New Member Inquiry Form and your message will be forwarded to one of the league officers, or a member of the membership committee, who will contact you and can answer any questions you might have.
