Our Roots
The Steel City Softball League (SCSL) began in 1981 and remains the longest-running LGBTQ+ sports organizations in the Pittsburgh area. The league provides an atmosphere for individuals to be themselves without fear of discrimination and is open to all members and friends of the LGBTQ+ community of Pittsburgh.
Throughout the years many friendships have been formed and athletes have been created. The SCSL provides members of the community that love softball, athletics, and camaraderie a chance to build their skills, develop friendships, and grow as individuals.
Since 2014, the SCSL Pittsburgh, Inc. (dba) Steel City Softball League, is a 501(c)(3) organization, and your donations are tax-deductible as charitable giving. IRS EIN: 45-2720887 Tax Exempt Information. IRS W9 Form

By focusing on consistent operational excellence, The Steel City Softball League commits to building and retaining an engaged community by fostering a culture of good sportsmanship, diversity, fellowship, and fun through the sport of softball.

The Steel City Softball League seeks to be a premier LGBTQ+ organization in Pittsburgh by creating an environment that enriches the lives of its members (past, present, and future) by creating a diverse and inclusive community through a well-managed, non-profit softball league.
